Update time! Check out the additons to the show list. All are venues that we have played previously, and are some of our favorites. May 6th is an all gospel concert at Highland Avenue Baptist Tabernacle in Ft. Thomas. HABT has been so supportive over the years and we look forward to playing there every year. Pastor Dave Simpson and Bob Turner are wonderful to work with and the congregation always makes us feel at home.

Back on the schedule is Follow the River RV Resort on August 18th. Be sure to make your reservations with the great Perfect family, and spend the weekend with us. We’ll be there with our RVs, so come on over to pick and grin on Friday, and stay for the concert on Saturday night.

Also added, Mt. Sterling Court Day on October 14th. As it gets closer we’ll have the time, but save the date. Kentucky Woolfest, the first weekend in October, will be scheduled more exactly by summertime. We’ll update as we receive any changes. Right now we assume that the Friday night show will be as in the past several years, 7PM – 8:30PM.

Watch for more information about the May 19th show at Willis Music in Florence. You won’t want to miss this concert. We will be taping the show and need an audience with attitude!

Gene’s working on new arrangements for some of his songs which haven’t been performed by DHM so far, and has written a new song, The Sands of Time. If the wind in Port Aransas blows any harder, y’all will have sands blowing across your faces too.

Welcome To A New Year

Welcome to a new year with Diamond Head Mountain. We are all extremely pleased with the band’s opportunities to play in new venues in 2011, and excited to play in even more in 2012. We’re actively seeking additional bookings for late March through December, so please keep us in mind and recommend us to your friends and colleagues.

The first practice of the year included four new songs, two of which are originals. These will be the first secular songs of Gene’s that the band has performed. More are scheduled to be included throughout the year. “Full Speed Ahead” is the title of one that really shows the direction of the band – passion and drive. Come to think of it, that would be a great title for a new CD.

January and February are creative times for band members. Gene and Marcy will be traveling and have ample opportunities to write new material. Everyone else is also working on new material and honing already great skills. Don’t you just love the way Chris and Elliott play off each other, pushing each other to even better picking? I sure do. And I just heard Tommy doing more impressive lead work on his Martin. He definitely will be playing more solo breaks! Now, is it possible for Ralph to sing with more heart? Don’t think that can be done!

It’s time to head to the Ft. Worth Stock Show and Rodeo, so we’re off to Texas. Currently, Mar. 31 at the Cafe on the Green will be our first show this year. Hope to see everyone then. Thanks for being such supportive fans. We make the music, but you make our day.
